Ottawa Redblacks move Bryce Carter, Michael Wakefield to six-game injured list

The Ottawa Redblacks have placed American defensive linemen Bryce Carter and Michael Wakefield on the six-game injured list. The moves were reflected on the CFL’s transactions page on Monday.

Carter has made eight consecutive starts at defensive end this season, recording 19 defensive tackles and two sacks. According to 3DownNation reporter John Hodge, the veteran defender suffered a torn Achilles and is out for the year.

The 28-year-old native of Steelton, Pa. has played 62 regular-season games over five seasons with the Redblacks, making 116 defensive tackles, 25 sacks, and three forced fumbles. He was named All-East Division in 2023.

Wakefield has made eight starts at defensive tackle in 2026, tallying nine defensive tackles and one sack.

The six-foot, 260-pound defender has played 128 career regular-season games with the Redblacks and Montreal Alouettes, making 193 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, 32 sacks, and three forced fumbles. He earned an All-East Division selection in 2024.

According to the team’s official injury report, long snapper Peter Adjey (elbow) was also a non-participant on Monday. He left partway through last week’s game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Limited participants in practice included Canadian fullback Emeric Boutin (ankle), Canadian offensive linemen Drew Desjarlais (foot) and Giordano Vaccaro (ankle), Global defensive lineman Habakkuk Baldonado (ankle), Canadian defensive lineman Cleyon Laing (foot), American linebackers Aaron Casey (groin) and Nyles Morgan (hand), Canadian defensive back Scott Hutter (ribs), and Canadian kicker Brett Lauther (quad).

The Ottawa Redblacks (0-8) will visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (4-4) at Princess Auto Stadium on Friday, August 14 with kickoff scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EDT. The Redblacks suffered a 42-20 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders last week, while the Blue Bombers were on bye.

The weather forecast in Winnipeg calls for 23 degrees with a mix of sun and cloud. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS2 in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on TSN 1200 in Ottawa or 680 CJOB in Winnipeg.
