Former CFL quarterback Cameron Dukes is returning to his roots in arena football, coming out of retirement to sign with the Vegas Knight Hawks of the Indoor Football League.
Dukes was serving as the head coach for Adair County High School in Kentucky, but recently stepped down. He shared news of his return to the Knight Hawks on social media on Friday night. The signing has yet to be confirmed by the team.
The 28-year-old pivot played three seasons in the CFL as a member of the Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes. He has not been on a roster since October 2025.
Dukes completed 69.9 percent of his passes over 39 regular-season CFL games for 2,212 yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He also rushed 92 times for 447 yards and 12 scores.
The six-foot, 210-pound passer claimed last year that he received death threats while starting for the Argonauts. He made 11 starts over two seasons with the team, going 5-6. He was on the team when they won the Grey Cup in 2024.
The Shepherdsville, Ken., native began his professional career in Vegas in 2022. He played eight games, completing 57.9 percent of his passes for 1,103 yards with 27 touchdowns against five interceptions, while rushing 35 times for 124 yards and three touchdowns.
Prior to turning pro, Dukes played four seasons at Lindsey Wilson College from 2018 through 2021. He was a three-time NAIA All-American and three-time Mid-South Conference offensive player of the year after completing 63 percent of his passes for 7,706 yards with 86 touchdowns against 15 interceptions while rushing 317 times for 1,049 yards and 29 touchdowns in 34 career games. The Blue Raiders won the national championship with him at the helm in 2020.
