Redblacks all-star receiver Greg Ellingson works out for Chicago Bears

Ottawa Redblacks receiver Greg Ellingson worked out for the NFL’s Chicago Bears today.

Ellingson finished fifth in the CFL in receiving yards last season with 1,260 on 76 catches to go with four touchdowns, then added a 26-yard touchdown catch against Edmonton is the East Final and seven catches for 85 yards in Ottawa’s Grey Cup win. The 27-year-old is set to become a CFL free agent in February.

According to Vancouver radio station News 1130, the New Orleans Saints worked out eight CFL players today, including B.C. Lions linebacker Adam Bighill, Redblacks defensive back Forrest Hightower, Winnipeg defenders Tony Burnett and Khalil Bass and Riders defensive back Otha Foster.

  1. Good for Ellingson and Hightower. Ellingson is a crucial part of Ottawa’s offense (more targets than any other WR on the team this past season) so while I hope for him that he can stick with an NFL team, I hope he comes back to Ottawa.

Forrest Hightower also took a step forward this year, especially with Gavins moving to LB. I’d gladly bring him back if the price is right.
