The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are replacing the turf at IG Field in time for the 2024 season.

The new surface, made by FieldTurf Vertex, will be FIFA Quality Pro certified upon completion. It will also feature CoolPlay TPE infill, which is said to reduce heat build-up in warm weather.

“We are thrilled to partner with FieldTurf for this important upgrade to IG Field,” said team president and CEO Wade Miller in a statement. “This investment is part of our ongoing capital improvement projects to the stadium and will be a great new surface for our players as we prepare to host the 2025 Grey Cup.”

The project is already underway with installation scheduled to finish in May.

IG Field opened in 2013 and plays host to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Valour FC of the Canadian Premier League. It will play host to the 112th Grey Cup in 2025.
