Jones’ future with the Riders was the team’s biggest question heading into the off-season as he was headed into the final season of his contract in 2019.
Saskatchewan has improved its win total each year under Jones going from five wins to 10 and 12 in 2018. Jones has led the Riders to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons after the franchise failed to make the post-season since 2014.
NFL teams have done extensive research on Jones and gaining insight into the current Saskatchewan bench boss.
#CFL sources tell me the extension with Jones and the Riders is now a done deal. I am told there is an out clause in the deal that will allow Jones to accept and leave for jobs in either the NFL or NCAA — which is not uncommon in many coaching/management CFL contracts. https://t.co/AeNlrgjVpc
