The Miami Dolphins claimed Canadian receiver Jared Wayne off waivers from the Houston Texans, the team announced on Tuesday.

The six-foot-three, 210-pound target dressed for each of Houston’s five regular-season games so far this year, recording four receptions for 65 yards on 12 targets. He was not targeted in the team’s two most recent games — a loss to the Dallas Cowboys, and a win over the Tennessee Titans.

Wayne spent most of last season on the practice roster with the Texans. He started one game in October and caught two passes for 20 yards, helping the club defeat the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 26-15.

The native of Peterborough, Ont. originally joined Houston as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and spent most of his first two NFL seasons on the practice roster. He dressed for three regular-season games in 2024 but didn’t register any receptions.

Wayne had a highly productive collegiate career at the University of Pittsburgh, where he caught 146 passes for 2,308 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was named second-team All-ACC with the Panthers in his final year of eligibility.

According to Spotrac, Wayne has earned nearly $1.3 million over the course of his NFL career.

The 26-year-old’s exclusive CFL rights belong to the Toronto Argonauts, who selected him in the second round of the 2023 CFL Draft.

The Dolphins (0-5) currently sit fourth in the AFC East standings. The team is entering a bye week and will return to the field on Sunday, Oct. 25 to visit the New York Jets (2-3) at 1:00 p.m. ET.
