The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have claimed Canadian offensive lineman Jakub Szott off of the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ practice roster.

The 25-year-old blocker joined the Riders on July 5 but did not see game action with the club. He dressed for three games earlier this season with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers before being released.

The six-foot-four, 299-pound native of Toronto, Ontario was originally selected by the Ottawa Redblacks in the fourth round, 29th overall, of the 2020 CFL Draft. He played 14 games, including 13 starts, as a rookie, but failed to make the active roster the following season. He later spent time on the Montreal Alouettes’ practice roster.

Szott will be on the Tiger-Cats’ active roster for Thursday’s game against the Edmonton Elks. He will take the place of veteran Kyle Saxelid, who has been placed on the six-game injured list with a knee issue.

The Ticats (3-5) and Elks (0-9) will kick off at 7:30 p.m. EDT from Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton.
