Edmonton Elks without Joe Robustelli against Ticats

The Edmonton Elks will be without prized free-agent receiver Joe Robustelli once again when they face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday.

The 29-year-old has been placed on the one-game injured list this week due to a foot issue. He did not make his debut in Green and Gold until Week 14 due to injury and has appeared in just three games since signing with the team this offseason, recording 14 catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns.

Canadian Zach Mathis will step into the starting lineup in place of Robustelli, while backup running back ShunDerrick Powell will take his spot on the roster after he was a late scratch last week. Canadian running back Isaiah Knight has been demoted to the practice roster.

Centre David Beard remains on the roster, but has been listed as a game-time decision due to a calf injury. The former All-CFL selection is doubtful to play, with veteran Mark Korte already listed in the starting lineup in his stead.

The Elks do have some good news on defence, where promising rookie defensive tackle Gavin Meyer is slated to make his return from injury. In eight games, the 24-year-old American has amassed 17 defensive tackles, a sack, two batted passes, and two interceptions.

Carmine Bastone, who was playing in lieu of Meyer, has been returned to the practice roster. Canadian defensive back Benji Sangmuah will dress this week in a depth role.

The Edmonton Elks (10-4) will host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (4-10) on Saturday, September 26, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Tabbies lost to the Montreal Alouettes last week, while the Elks narrowly lost to the Toronto Argonauts.

The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on the Ticats Audio Network in Hamilton or 880 CHED in Edmonton.
