Trevor Harris has officially moved into the top 10 in all-time CFL passing yardage, surpassing arguably the greatest player in league history in the process.

The 40-year-old signal-caller achieved the feat on a 72-yard catch-and-run by Daniel Wiebe early in the second quarter of the Labour Day Classic. The momentum-swinging play officially moved him past CFL legend Doug Flutie, who had 41,355 yards in his career, and into the tenth spot.

Saskatchewan capped the drive with a seven-yard touchdown pass from Harris to Quali Conley to extend their lead over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Flutie won six CFL Most Outstanding Player awards and three Grey Cups over eight seasons with the B.C. Lions, Calgary Stampeders, and Toronto Argonauts. He later returned to the NFL, where he played for the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, and New England Patriots. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2008.

Harris entered this season sitting in 13th place on the all-time passing list with 37,697 yards. He passed the 40,000-yard mark last month in a victory over the Ottawa Redblacks, becoming just the 12th player to cross that milestone. Over his 14-year CFL career, he has suited up for the Toronto Argonauts, Ottawa Redblacks, Edmonton Elks, Montreal Alouettes, and Riders.

Entering this week, the native of Waldo, Ohio, had completed 272-of-382 passes (71.2 percent) for 3,531 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Last season, he led the Riders to a Grey Cup victory and was named the game’s MVP.

Harris is unlikely to move up another spot on the all-time list this season, as Matt Dunigan sits ninth with 43,857 yards. Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell is the only other active player in the top ten, holding the eighth spot.

Anthony Calvillo is the CFL’s all-time leading passer with 79,816 yards.
