Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell took to social media on Tuesday to provide a brief update on the ankle injury he suffered early last month.
“That feeling taking the boot off today and walking full weight!” he wrote to his Instagram story. “One step closer.”
The statement was accompanied by a video clip of Mitchell dancing on the sideline during his team’s 38-13 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2023.

The 36-year-old was injured during Hamilton’s loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on July 5.
The following day, the Tiger-Cats announced that Mitchell had undergone successful ankle surgery and was expected to make a full recovery. Mitchell also released a statement on social media vowing to return to the field as soon as possible.
The native of Katy, Texas was off to a promising start to the season, completing 78.2 percent of his passes for 1,107 yards, nine touchdowns, and one interception over four regular-season games.
Mitchell is a two-time Grey Cup champion, two-time Grey Cup Most Valuable Player, two-time All-CFL selection, two-time CFL passing leader, and two-time CFL Most Outstanding Player.
Over 211 career regular-season games, he has thrown for 45,426 yards, 271 touchdowns, and 129 interceptions, and rushed 212 times for 1,049 yards and 14 scores.
Hamilton has gone 2-4 since Mitchell left the lineup. Tre Ford is 1-2 as a starter, Harrison Frost is 1-1, and Jake Dolegala is 0-1.
The timeline for Mitchell’s return remains unclear. The Tiger-Cats have not formally ruled him out for the rest of the 2026 season, though Milanovich has acknowledged that the injury could be season-ending.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (4-6) will visit the Toronto Argonauts (4-5) at BMO Field on Saturday, August 22 with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Tiger-Cats are coming off a 26-19 upset win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, while the Argonauts got blown out by the Edmonton Elks by a score of 42-12.
