The Hamilton Tiger-Cats were without head coach Scott Milanovich at practice on Tuesday, the team has confirmed. Scott Radley of the Hamilton Spectator was first to report the news.

“It’s a day-to-day situation right now,” a team spokesperson wrote in a statement to 3DownNation. “He’s still a part of the planning process and is in communication with the team. We expect he will coach the game.”

Bob Dyce, the team’s assistant head coach and special teams coordinator, addressed the media after practice.

“(Milanovich) is dealing with a personal matter,” he said. “It’s expected to be temporary, and out of respect to Scott and his family, we’re going to leave it at that.”

The 53-year-old is in his third season as the head coach of the Tiger-Cats, having gone 22-24 over that timespan. He led the team to a first-place finish in the East Division last season, though the team was upset in the East Final by the Montreal Alouettes.

Milanovich previously served as the head coach of the Toronto Argonauts from 2012 to 2016, where he went 43-47 during the regular-season. He led the club to a Grey Cup in his first year with the Double Blue, upsetting the Calgary Stampeders by a score of 35-22 at the Rogers Centre.

The native of Butler, Pa. previously won two Grey Cups as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator of the Montreal Alouettes. He has also had two coaching stints in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (4-6) will visit the Toronto Argonauts (4-5) at BMO Field on Saturday, August 22 with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Tiger-Cats are coming off a 26-19 upset win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, while the Argonauts got blown out by the Edmonton Elks by a score of 42-12.

The weather forecast in Toronto calls for a high of 23 degrees and a 40 percent chance of rain. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on the Ticats Audio Network in Hamilton or TSN 1050 in Toronto.
