Windsor Lancers player Nathan Guizzetti dead at 19

Windsor Lancers running back Nathan Guizzetti died over Labour Day Weekend at the age of 19, his family has announced.

“Rest easy, Nathan. You were the best big brother anyone could ever ask for, and you never deserved what happened to you,” his brother, Cole, posted to social media on Monday.

“I still can’t believe you’re gone, and my heart hurts knowing I have to live without you. I’ll forever cherish our memories, the laughs, and every moment we shared. I love you and I’ll miss you more than words can say. Until we meet again, brother.”

The five-foot-seven, 160-pound ball-carrier appeared in Windsor’s recent season-opening loss to the McMaster Marauders. He recorded seven punt returns for 84 yards and four kickoff returns for 72 yards in the game.

Guizzetti joined the Lancers in 2025 and played two regular-season games, recording 10 punt returns for 159 yards and three kickoff returns for 40 yards. He also dressed for two playoff games, returning nine punts for 79 yards and six kickoffs for 152 yards.

The native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. attended high school in his hometown at Korah Collegiate, where he was a two-time league Most Valuable Player.

“Nathan had a profound and positive impact on everyone in his life. His big smile would light up every room he entered,” wrote the school in a statement.

“Nathan epitomized what it means to be a Korah Colt: incredible work ethic, selfless, humble, kind, tough, respectful, a leader, and the ultimate teammate.

“Nathan’s talent was undeniable, he was the top athlete in the city, but it was his humility that set him apart. He was always the first to praise his teammates and share the credit.

“Nathan’s greatness will be everlasting. We love you Nathan, and we’ll miss you.”
