Toronto Argonauts can clinch home playoff berth in Week 16

The Toronto Argonauts can clinch a playoff berth and a home playoff game this week, the CFL confirmed in a release on Wednesday.

In order to do so, the Boatmen must win against the Edmonton Elks this weekend and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats must lose to the Montreal Alouettes.

Toronto visited Edmonton in mid-August in what turned out to be a 42-12 blowout win for the Green and Gold. Chad Kelly threw for 265 yards and one interception in the loss, as the Argonauts committed six turnovers.

The Tiger-Cats have already lost twice to Montreal this season. The teams met at Hamilton Stadium in Week 1, where the Alouettes won 30-27, and again at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium in Week 8, where the home side won 31-18.

Toronto missed the playoffs in 2025 after finishing third in the East Division at 5-13. The club made the postseason the four seasons prior, winning two Grey Cups.

As has been previously reported, the Alouettes and Elks have clinched playoff berths, while the Ottawa Redblacks have been eliminated from postseason contention.

The Toronto Argonauts (7-6) will host the Edmonton Elks (10-3) at BMO Field on Saturday, September 19 with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EDT. Last week, the Elks dominated the Calgary Stampeders in the annual Labour Day Classic rematch, while the Argonauts beat Ottawa thanks to a walk-off field goal from Lirim Hajrullahu.

The game will be broadcast on TSN, CTV, RDS, and Crave in Canada, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 880 CHED in Edmonton or TSN 1050 in Toronto.
