The Calgary Stampeders have set their roster for Thursday’s game against the Ottawa Redblacks, featuring a number of changes from a week ago.

Ka’Deem Carey, the team’s star running back, will not dress due to a toe injury that’s landed him on the six-game injured list. Second-year ball-carrier Dedrick Mills, who ran for 459 yards and two touchdowns in a depth role last season, will start in his place.

Backup linebacker Silas Stewart moved to the six-game injured list, while offensive linemen Hugh Thornton and Jamal Campbell were moved to the one-game injured list and defensive lineman Kelon Thomas and defensive back Tae Daley were moved to the practice roster.

Thornton will be placed as the club’s starting right tackle by Caleb Benenoch, a seven-year NFL veteran who opened the season on the one-game injured list. Zack Williams has also returned to his starting role at left guard after missing last week’s game due to injury.

Mike Moore will also making his debut with the team along the defensive line after briefly retiring this off-season. The veteran has recorded 101 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 23 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick over 66 career CFL games as a member of the Ottawa Redblacks, Edmonton Elks, and Montreal Alouettes.

Calgary opened the season with a disappointing 25-15 loss at home to the B.C. Lions. Jake Maier struggled in his first start as the team’s unquestioned starting quarterback, throwing for 154 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Thursday’s game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT at TD Place Stadium in Ottawa. The Redblacks are currently riding a 12-game home losing streak that dates back to 2021.
