The Calgary Stampeders’ dreams of a home Grey Cup victory are over.
The Stamps were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention after the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated the B.C. Lions 34-10 in Week 21. They are locked into fifth place in the West Division because they do not hold the season-series tiebreaker against the Winnipeg and have the worst winning percentage in the event of a three-way tie with Saskatchewan.
Calgary had made the playoffs in 19 of the last 20 seasons, with the lone miss coming in 2024. The club hasn’t hosted a postseason game since 2019 or won in the playoffs since 2018, when they defeated the Ottawa Redblacks to win the 106th Grey Cup.
As has been previously announced, the Montreal Alouettes, Edmonton Elks, Toronto Argonauts, B.C. Lions, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers have each clinched postseason berths, while the Ottawa Redblacks and Hamilton Tiger-Cats have also been eliminated from playoff contention. Montreal and Edmonton have also clinched first place in the East and West Divisions, respectively. Toronto and B.C. will host the divisional semi-finals as the second-place teams.
The Stampeders finish the season 9-9. They have posted an above .500 record just once in the past four seasons.
McMahon Stadium will play host to one more game this year. The 113th Grey Cup will take place in Calgary on Sunday, November 15.
