Dylan Giffen and Cam Lawson have received invitations to the College Gridiron Showcase (CGS) in Texas.
Giffen, an offensive tackle from Western, was ranked 16th in the first edition of the CFL scouting bureau in September. The six-foot-eight, 335-pound blocker has drawn comparisons to Calgary Stampeders’ guard Shane Bergman.
Lawson checks in at six-foot-three and 281 pounds at defensive tackle. The Queen’s product is the top interior pass rusher in the 2020 CFL draft class, not including Oklahoma star Neville Gallimore.
Both players were named first-team OUA all-stars on Wednesday.
The CGS is scheduled to take place from January 3-5, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas. 78 scouts attended last year’s game, including representation from all nine CFL teams and 31 of 32 NFL teams.
Canadian prospects Brady Oliveira (North Dakota) and Jamie Harry (Ottawa) were invited to last year’s College Gridiron Showcase.
Oliveira went on to be selected in the second round (14th overall) of the CFL draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, while Harry was picked in the fifth round (38th overall) by the Toronto Argonauts.
