The B.C. Lions have signed American offensive lineman Lorenzo Thompson to the practice roster, the team announced on Tuesday.
The six-foot-seven, 305-pound blocker attended training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this year but was waived after suffering an injury.
The native of Syracuse, N.Y. originally signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He spent his entire rookie season on the practice roster, and returned for training camp the following year, though he was let go among final cuts.
The 26-year-old played collegiately at the University of Rhode Island, where he was a four-year starter at left tackle. He was named third-team All-Conference in 2022, first-team All-Conference in 2023, and a Phil Steele third-team All-American in 2023.
According to Spotrac, Thompson earned nearly $500,000 during his time in the NFL.
The B.C. Lions (10-6) will visit the Calgary Stampeders (8-9) on Saturday, October 17 with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET. The Lions knocked off the Ottawa Redblacks this past week, while the Stampeders lost a close game to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 730 CKNW (English) or Sher-E-Punjab Radio AM 600 (Punjabi) in Vancouver or 770 CHQR in Calgary.
