The Toronto Argonauts have listed franchise quarterback Chad Kelly as questionable for Saturday’s game against the B.C. Lions.

Kelly was a non-participant in practice on Tuesday due to an injury to his throwing hand. He was limited on Wednesday and Thursday, potentially putting his status in jeopardy.

According to multiple reports from TSN earlier in the week, Kelly is expected to play despite the injury. However, the Argos do not need to provide clarity on his status until depth charts are due on Friday, with the possibility of pushing it further if he is named a game-time decision.

The native of Buffalo, N.Y., has led the Argonauts to a 9-6 record this season, helping them clinch a home playoff game. He has completed 70.9 percent of his passes for 5,067 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions over 15 starts.

The 32-year-old has also rushed 29 times for 183 yards and three scores. He leads the CFL in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and interceptions.

The six-foot-two, 216-pound passer has played 60 career regular-season CFL games over five years with the Boatmen, completing 69.0 percent of his passes for 11,938 yards, 68 touchdowns, and 47 interceptions. He has won two Grey Cups and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 2023.

Toronto’s backup quarterback is Nick Arbuckle. The soon-to-be 33-year-old filled in for Kelly in the 111th Grey Cup and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player after helping lead the Boatmen to a 41-24 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.

Arbuckle played 15 regular-season games in 2025 while Kelly was out due to injury and completed 72.4 percent of his passes for 4,370 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions.

The Toronto Argonauts (9-6) will host the B.C. Lions (8-6) on Saturday, October 3, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EDT. The Lions are coming off a win over Saskatchewan that launched them to second place in the West Division, while the Argonauts extended their winning streak to four games with a victory over Winnipeg.

The game will be broadcast on TSN, CTV, and Crave in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 730 CKNW (English) or Sher-E-Punjab Radio AM 600 (Punjabi) in Vancouver and TSN 1050 in Toronto.
