Ottawa Redblacks add UFL MVP Jack Plummer to negotiation list, reclaim Matt Corral

The Ottawa Redblacks have added American quarterbacks Jack Plummer and Matt Corral to their exclusive negotiation list.

Plummer spent last season with the Orlando Storm in the United Football League, where he started 11 total games. He completed 210-of-328 passes (64.0 percent) for 2,415 yards, 18 touchdowns, and two interceptions, while rushing 32 times for 204 yards and two majors, en route to being named the UFL’s Most Valuable Player.

The six-foot-five, 215-pound pivot previously signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and spent that season on the practice roster. He was waived following training camp in 2025.

The 26-year-old split his collegiate career between Purdue University (2018-21), the University of California, Berkley (2022), and the University of Louisville (2023), posting a 19-20 record across 39 games as a starter. He completed 64.1 percent of his passes for 9,728 yards, 68 touchdowns, and 31 interceptions while rushing for three majors. The native of Dubuque, Ia., was named third-team All-ACC in his final season.

Corral was originally added to Ottawa’s negotiation list on April 21, before being removed on August 29. He also last played for the Orlando Storm, serving as the third-string quarterback behind Plummer and Hank Bachmeier. He was acquired via trade midway through the season from the Birmingham Stallions.

The 27-year-old had played for the Stallions since 2024, save for a training camp stint with the Minnesota Vikings that year, dressing for 13 games and making nine starts. He has thrown for 1,911 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in the UFL.

Corral was originally selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers, but missed his entire rookie season with a Lisfranc injury. He was waived following training camp the next year and claimed by the New England Patriots, but left the team for an undisclosed reason after three practices and was eventually released. He has never dressed for an NFL game.

The six-foot-two, 215-pound pivot attended the University of Mississippi, where he dressed for 37 games and made 27 starts. He completed 67.3 percent of his passes for 8,281 yards, 57 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions, while rushing for 1,338 yards and 18 touchdowns.

The Redblacks recently hired Jim Popp as a senior football advisor. He previously served as vice president of player personnel and director of player administration for the UFL.

CFL teams can claim the rights to up to 45 players via the negotiation list on a first-come, first-served basis, provided that they are not eligible for the Canadian or Global Drafts, and do not have CFL veteran status. These players can be added, traded, or removed from the list at any time.

Being added to a negotiation list does not mean that the player has expressed interest in the CFL, and some are unaware that their rights have even been claimed. Players can only force their removal from the list if the team does not provide them with a minimum contract offer at their request.

In a corresponding move, the Redblacks relinquished their rights to Green Bay Packers quarterback Kedon Slovis.

The Ottawa Redblacks (0-12) will visit the Calgary Stampeders (5-8) at McMahon Stadium on Saturday, September 19, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. Last week, the Redblacks suffered a narrow loss to the Toronto Argonauts, while the Stampeders got blown out by the Edmonton Elks.
