Carter O’Donnell doubtful for Edmonton Elks against Roughriders

The Edmonton Elks have listed offensive lineman Carter O’Donnell as doubtful for Thursday’s game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The team issued an updated injury report on Tuesday afternoon.

The 27-year-old started the team’s first six regular-season games at left guard, helping open holes for Justin Rankin in the run game.

The Calgary native signed with the Elks last fall after five years in the NFL. He dressed for seven regular-season games and made five starts at right guard.

O’Donnell was a member of the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals during his tenure down south. He dressed for five regular-season games and made three starts with Arizona. According to Spotrac, he earned almost $2.6 million during his time in the NFL.

The Elks have also listed offensive lineman Brett Boyko (hand), linebacker Brock Mogensen (hamstring), and defensive back Royce Metchie (Achilles) as questionable. They were each limited participants in practice on Tuesday.

Global linebacker Tyron Vrede, who did not practice on Tuesday, is doubtful with a knee injury.

The Edmonton Elks (5-1) will visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders (4-1) at Mosaic Stadium on Thursday, July 23 with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 p.m. EDT. The Elks survived a late scare to beat the B.C. Lions this past week, while the Roughriders were on bye.

The weather forecast in Regina calls for a high of 31 degrees and sun. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS2 in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 880 CHED in Edmonton or 620 CKRM in Regina.
