Montreal Alouettes add NFL QB Kyle McCord to negotiation list

Philadelphia Eagles

The Montreal Alouettes have added American quarterback Kyle McCord to their negotiation list.

The 23-year-old was selected in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. He completed 42.9 percent of his passes for 191 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions over three preseason games before spending the regular-season on the practice roster.

The native of Mount Laurel, N.J. signed a reserve/futures contract with the Green Bay Packers in January. He is one of four quarterbacks currently on the team’s roster alongside Jordan Love, Tyrod Taylor, and Kyron Drones.

McCord was a collegiate standout at Syracuse University, where he completed 66.0 percent of his passes for 4,779 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions over 13 games in 2024. He went 10-3 as a starter, was named second-team All-ACC, and led the entire NCAA in passing yards.

The six-foot-three, 218-pound passer started his collegiate career at Ohio State University, where he completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 3,776 yards, 27 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He went 12-1 as a starter and was named third-team All-Big Ten in 2023.

CFL teams can claim the rights to up to 45 players via the negotiation list on a first-come, first-served basis, provided that they are not eligible for the Canadian or Global Drafts, and have never played in the league before. These players can be added, traded, or removed from the list at any time.

Being added to a negotiation list does not mean that the player has expressed interest in the CFL, and some are unaware that their rights have even been claimed. Players can only force their removal from the list if the team does not provide them with a minimum contract offer at their request.

The Montreal Alouettes (1-0) will host the Toronto Argonauts (0-0) at Percival Molson Stadium on Friday, June 12, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Argonauts were on a bye in Week 1, while the Alouettes are coming off an overtime victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The weather forecast in Montreal calls for a high of 25 degrees and a 20 percent chance of rain. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada, and CFL+ in the United States and internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on TSN 1050 in Toronto, TSN 690 in Montreal, or 99.5 Montreal in French.
