Laval Rouge et Or quarterback Arnaud Desjardins has been named the U Sports offensive player of the week. The second-year passer helped lead his team to a 22-3 victory over the Montreal Carabins that moved his team up the U Sports football top ten rankings and atop the RSEQ conference standings.
Desjardins completed 68.6 percent of his passing attempts for 334 yards and two touchdowns in the win along with one carry for 11 yards. He has now recorded four 300-yard games this season and leads all of U Sports with 2,105 passing yards and 17 touchdown passes.
Saint Mary’s Huskies defensive back Ryan Butler was named the U Sports defensive player of the week after recording five tackles, a pick-six, and a game-sealing pass breakup in a 21-13 win over the Mount Allison Mounties. The Mississauga native leads his team with 20.5 total tackles and is tied for the lead in the AUS conference with three interceptions on the year.
Carleton Ravens’ kicker Brandon Forcier was named the U Sports special teams player of the week after going a perfect six-for-six on field goals in the team’s 36-18 win over the Waterloo Warriors. The second-year specialist set a new school record for most field goals in a single game with his longest attempt coming from 37 yards out.
