Hamilton Tiger-Cats facing CFL playoff elimination in Week 17

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are facing elimination from playoff contention this week, the CFL confirmed on Wednesday.

The Tabbies will be eliminated if they lose to the Edmonton Elks on Saturday, provided the Calgary Stampeders beat the Ottawa Redblacks.

Steeltown will also be eliminated with a loss to Edmonton if the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeat the Toronto Argonauts, and the B.C. Lions win against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

In both of these scenarios, a crossover would be guaranteed for 2026. It would mark the 14th time that a West Division team crosses over to the East Division for the postseason since the rule was instituted in 1996.

The Tiger-Cats have lost seven of their last eight regular-season games, with five of the losses coming by double-digit margins.

Hamilton has made the playoffs in six of the last seven seasons, with the lone miss coming in 2024 when the team finished 7-11.

As has been previously announced, the Montreal Alouettes, Edmonton Elks, and Toronto Argonauts have each clinched postseason berths, while the Ottawa Redblacks have been eliminated from playoff contention.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (4-10) will visit the Edmonton Elks (10-4) on Saturday, September 26 with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Tabbies lost to the Montreal Alouettes last week, while the Elks narrowly lost to the Toronto Argonauts.

The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on the Ticats Audio Network in Hamilton or 880 CHED in Edmonton.
