Canadian cornerback Tevaughn Campbell has been added to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice roster after he was waived as part of final cuts on Tuesday.
The native of Scarborough, Ont. originally joined the team in October 2022 after being signed off the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice roster. He dressed for five games with the Jaguars, recording three total tackles.
The 29-year-old played 30 games with the Los Angeles Chargers over the 2020 and 2021 seasons, starting 11 contests. He made 62 tackles, seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles, an interception, and a fumble recovery in that time, scoring two defensive touchdowns.
Campbell was waived by the Chargers after suffering a knee injury during training camp this past year. He joined the Raiders in mid-October as a free agent but did not dress for any regular season games.
The six-foot, 200-pound defender originally signed his first NFL contract with the New York Jets in 2019. He was waived following training camp but joined the Chargers’ practice squad two weeks later and remained the rest of the season.
The University of Regina product ran a CFL combine record 4.35 electronic 40-yard dash in 2015. He was selected by the Calgary Stampeders in the third round of that year’s draft and played four seasons with Calgary (2015), Saskatchewan (2016-2017), and Montreal (2017-2018). He also briefly played with Canada’s national rugby sevens team.
In 42 career CFL games, Campbell recorded 53 defensive tackles, nine special teams tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, and four interceptions. He found the end zone three times on defence.
