The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have moved Canadian strong-side linebacker Enock Makonzo to the six-game injured list.

The five-foot-eleven, 195-pound defender was released by the Edmonton Elks before training camp got underway and signed with Hamilton shortly thereafter. The 27-year-old played only five games with the Elks due to injury in 2023, recording 11 tackles and one forced fumble.

The native of Lachine, Que. was the fourth overall pick in the 2022 CFL Draft out of Coastal Carolina University. He dressed for 16 games as a rookie and made 10 starts at strong-side linebacker, recording 57 total tackles and two sacks.

Hamilton has also signed Canadian defensive lineman Curtis Woodmansey and Canadian linebacker Trevor Hoyte.

Woodmansey played nine games this past season at the University of Guelph, recording 11 total tackles and one sack. The six-foot-three, 290-pound native of Toronto went unselected in the 2024 CFL Draft and is the younger brother of offensive lineman Coulter Woodmansey, who starts for the Ticats at right guard.

Hoyte played 18 regular season games with the Toronto Argonauts last season, making 17 special teams tackles. The six-foot-two, 220-pound native of Gatineau, Que. was a fourth-round pick in the 2021 CFL Draft out of Carleton University and has since made 35 defensive tackles and 31 special teams tackles over 49 career games.

Hamilton has also added American linebacker DQ Thomas to the suspended list.

The Ticats will open their 2024 regular season by visiting the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium on Friday, June 7.
