Ticats QB Hayden Moore placed on retired list, nine others released

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have lost quarterback Hayden Moore to retirement.

Moore dressed for 18 regular season games in 2019, completing 20-of-30 pass attempts for 222 yards, zero touchdowns, and four interceptions. He started Hamilton’s final regular season game of the season, which was a 21-18 victory over the Toronto Argonauts.

The 25-year-old re-signed with the Ticats in January 2021 and was pencilled-in as the team’s third-string quarterback going into this season.

Prior to joining the Tiger-Cats, Moore appeared in 36 games over four seasons at the University of Cincinnati, completing 545-of-955 attempts for 6,518 yards, 42 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions. He also rushed for 503 yards and 10 touchdowns during his time with the Bearcats.

Receiver Justin Sumpter and defensive backs Brandon Bryant and Ronald Zamort have also retired from professional football.

The Ticats also announced the release of the following nine players: American quarterback David Watford; Canadian receiver Brian Jones; American receiver Dontez Byrd; American receiver Damoun Patterson; American defensive tackle Johnny Robinson; American defensive end Yurik Bethune; American defensive end Koron Crump; American defensive back Qudarius Ford; and American defensive back Herb Waters.
