Saskatchewan Roughriders add North Dakota quarterback Jerry Kaminski to negotiation list

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added American quarterback Jerry Kaminski to their exclusive negotiation list.

The six-foot-two, 213-pound passer is in his fourth season at the University of North Dakota. Through two games this season, he has completed 40-of-50 passing attempts for 465 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception, leading the Fighting Hawks to commanding victories over Long Island University and St. Thomas.

Kaminski took over the starting job at UND in 2025, completing 223-of-382 passes (58 percent) for 2,570 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 607 yards and eight majors.

The native of Sun Prairie, Wisc., has one more season of collegiate eligibility based on incoming NCAA legislation. Unless he declares early, he will be in the 2028 NFL Draft class.

CFL teams can claim the rights to up to 45 players via the negotiation list on a first-come, first-served basis, provided that they are not eligible for the Canadian or Global Drafts, and do not have CFL veteran status. These players can be added, traded, or removed from the list at any time.

Being added to a negotiation list does not mean that the player has expressed interest in the CFL, and some are unaware that their rights have even been claimed. Players can only force their removal from the list if the team does not provide them with a minimum contract offer at their request.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (8-4) will visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (6-6) at Princess Auto Stadium on Saturday, September 12, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m. EDT. The two teams met in the Labour Day Classic last week, where the Roughriders won 32-26 in overtime at Mosaic Stadium.
