Toronto Argonauts sign CFL veteran Jordan Herdman-Reed, one other

The Toronto Argonauts have signed American running back Cam Porter and Canadian linebacker Jordan Herdman-Reed, the team announced on Thursday.

Porter played collegiately at Northwestern University, where he rushed for 1,908 yards, caught 63 passes for 425 yards, and scored 19 touchdowns over 45 games.

The five-foot-ten, 215-pound ball-carrier missed most of the 2025 season due to injury. The native of Cincinnati, Ohio reportedly ran a 4.79-second forty-yard dash and repped 225 pounds 25 times on the bench press at his pro day.

Herdman-Reed attended training camp with the Argonauts earlier this year. The six-foot, 235-pound defender dressed for seven regular-season games with the club last season and recorded five defensive tackles.

The 32-year-old was originally a seventh-round pick in the 2017 CFL Draft out of Simon Fraser University. Over 105 career regular-season CFL games, he has recorded 96 defensive tackles, 73 special teams tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble as a member of the B.C. Lions, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Calgary Stampeders, and Argonauts. 

The Toronto Argonauts (6-6) will host the Ottawa Redblacks (0-11) at BMO Field on Saturday, September 12 with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EDT. Last week, the Redblacks were on bye while the Argonauts won the season series against Hamilton with a 37-22 victory in the Labour Day Classic.

The weather forecast in Toronto calls for a high of 24 degrees and sun. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on TSN 1200 in Ottawa or TSN 1050 in Toronto.
