Ottawa Redblacks sign former NFL draft pick Grant DuBose, three others

The Ottawa Redblacks have signed American receiver Grant DuBose, the team announced on Monday.

The 25-year-old was a seventh-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He spent most of his rookie season on the team’s practice roster before being promoted to the active roster near the end of the season, though he did not dress for any regular-season games.

The six-foot-two, 201-pound target signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2024, where he dressed for three regular-season games. He was targeted four times and made two catches for 11 yards.

The native of Montgomery, Ala. signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2025 and the Columbus Aviators in 2026, though he didn’t see any regular-season action with either team.

DuBose finished his collegiate career at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he earned a second-team All-Conference USA selection in 2022. He made 126 receptions for 1,684 yards and 15 touchdowns over 24 games with the team.

The Redblacks have also signed Canadian offensive lineman Jaxon Morkin, American defensive back Kenzel Lawler, and Canadian long snapper Lucus Spencer

Morkin was a fourth-round pick in the 2024 CFL Draft out of the University of Windsor. He returned to school for his final year of eligibility that same year before joining the Edmonton Elks in 2025, where he played four regular-season games. The six-foot-three, 306-pound blocker was released by the Elks following the conclusion of training camp in May.

Lawler recently attended rookie minicamps with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. The six-foot, 185-pound defender finished his collegiate career at the University of Montana, where he made 69 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 15 pass knockdowns, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery over two seasons. The 25-year-old is the younger brother of Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver Kenny Lawler.

Spencer attended training camp with the Montreal Alouettes earlier this year. The six-foot-two, 235-pound native of Kelowna, B.C. played collegiately at Bishop’s University, where he made 16 total tackles.

The Ottawa Redblacks (0-8) will visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (4-4) at Princess Auto Stadium on Friday, August 14 with kickoff scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EDT. The Redblacks suffered a 42-20 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders last week, while the Blue Bombers were on bye.
