B.C. Lions select Travis Lulay, Ryan Phillips for Wall of Fame

The B.C. Lions have selected Travis Lulay and Ryan Phillips for induction into the team’s Wall of Fame, the club announced on Monday.

Lulay played 10 seasons with the Lions, completing 63.5 percent of his passes for 21,352 yards, 127 touchdowns, and 75 interceptions over 140 regular-season games. He went 48-33 as a starter and rushed for 2,148 yards and 23 scores along the ground.

The native of Aumsville, Ore. was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 2011 and led B.C. to a Grey Cup victory that same year. He was also named All-West Division in 2012.

“I feel very fortunate to have spent my entire CFL career as a B.C. Lion,” said Lulay in a statement. “To be recognized by the organization as a member of the Wall of Fame, alongside so many Lions greats, is a tremendous honour.”

Phillips played 12 seasons with the Lions, tallying 499 defensive tackles, 29 special teams tackles, 47 interceptions, nine fumble recoveries, and five sacks over 212 regular-season games.

The five-foot-ten, 195-pound defender was a four-time All-CFL selection, five-time All-West Division selection, and two-time Grey Cup champion.

“I’m thankful and blessed to be recognized with these other great people within this organization. I appreciate Amar Doman, David Braley, Wally Buono, and all the coaches and teammates who have helped me as a player and man,” said Phillips.

“The support system along the way from my family, friends and the best fans in the CFL has been nothing short of amazing. Thank you!”

The 43-year-old has served on B.C.’s coaching staff since 2019, including a three-year stint as defensive coordinator from 2022 to 2024.

The induction ceremony will occur on Saturday, September 12 when the Lions host the Montreal Alouettes.

The B.C. Lions (3-5) will visit the Calgary Stampeders (4-5) at McMahon Stadium on Thursday, August 13 with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 p.m. EDT. The Lions narrowly beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last week, while the Stampeders suffered a close loss to the Toronto Argonauts.

The weather forecast in Calgary calls for a high of 15 degrees and a 90 percent chance of rain. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS2 in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally.
