Kian Schaffer-Baker ruled out for Saskatchewan Roughriders Week 10 game versus Redblacks

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have ruled star Canadian receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker out with a knee injury for the team’s Week 10 game agains the Ottawa Redblacks.

The 28-year-old recorded three receptions for 48 yards in the Riders 28-26 victory over the Edmonton Elks in Week 9. He has registered 45 catches for 704 yards with four touchdowns in seven regular season games in 2026.

Schaffer-Baker underwent offseason hip surgery in 2023, which caused him to miss the first 10 weeks that year, and the athletic target was sidelined for 13 games in 2025 due to a foot injury.

Fellow Canuck receiver Samuel Emilus has been listed as questionable with a foot injury. Emilus was a game-time decision last week against Edmonton and did not play in his team’s victory at Commonwealth Stadium.

National fullback Albert Awachie has also been ruled out with an ankle injury. Canadian defensive lineman Ali Saad (calf) and CFL all-star cornerback Tevaughn Campbell (forearm) are also out.

Saskatchewan (5-2) hosts Ottawa (0-7) at Mosaic Stadium on Friday, August 7 with kickoff scheduled for 9 p.m. EDT. The Redblacks suffered a 34-13 loss to the Montreal Alouettes last week.

The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 620 CKRM in Regina or TSN 1200 in Ottawa.
