Canadian running back Michael Chris-Ike has landed a rookie mini-camp invitation from the New Orleans Saints, per sources.

The Hamilton, Ont. was selected in the second round of the 2024 CFL Draft, 14th overall, by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He is already slated to take part in the New York Jets’ rookie mini-camp this weekend.

The six-foot-one, 225-pound ball carrier blew up the CFL Combine in March, running a 4.51-second forty-yard dash, 6.71-second three-cone drill, and 4.19-second shuttle — all of which were the fastest marks in attendance. He added a 35.5-inch vertical and 122.25-inch broad jump, while putting up 16 reps on the bench.

Despite his impressive measurables, Chris-Ike was never a full-time starter at Delaware State University. In 28 career games, he carried 162 times for 754 yards and five touchdowns, while making 10 total special teams tackles.

Unless he lands a contract at one of his two NFL tryouts, Chris-Ike is expected to be in training camp with the Bombers later this month. Winnipeg will open the 2024 regular season by hosting the Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes at Princess Auto Stadium on Thursday, June 6.
