The Ottawa Redblacks have signed American strong-side linebacker Adarius Pickett to a one-year deal, tying him to the club through 2024. The move came after the pending free agent was officially released by the Toronto Argonauts on Monday.
The 27-year-old recorded 105 defensive tackles, 19 special teams tackles, six sacks, and one forced fumble as a member of the Toronto Argonauts this past season and was named a CFL all-star for the first time in his career. He was 3DownNation’s top-ranked pending free agent strong-side linebacker and fourth-ranked pending free agent overall.
The five-foot-eleven, 210-pound defender has made 201 defensive tackles, 38 special teams tackles, 11 sacks, four forced fumbles, and two interceptions over three seasons in the CFL as a member of the Montreal Alouettes and Argos.
Pending free agents can negotiate with teams across the league during the current window, which closes on Feb. 11. Players can agree to terms on a contract with a particular team for 2024, however, these deals aren’t legally binding and can’t be finalized or made official until after free agency opens on Feb. 13.
The Redblacks have a bye during the first week of the 2024 regular season before hosting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday, June 13 at TD Place Stadium.
