The Toronto Argonauts have signed Canadian kicker Lirim Hajrullahu. He was 3DownNation’s top-ranked free agent specialist.
The 33-year-old has spent the past four years south of the border in the NFL and USFL, playing for the Los Angeles Rams, Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Football Team, and Philadelphia Stars. He dressed for four career NFL games, making four-of-five field goal attempts and all eight of his extra-point attempts.
The native of St. Catharines, Ont. went unselected in the 2014 CFL Draft before two-year stints with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Toronto Argonauts, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He was named the Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in the West Division as a member of the Blue Bombers in 2014, an East Division all-star in 2016 and 2019, and won the Grey Cup with Toronto in 2017.
Hajrullahu has an 83.2 career field goal percentage in the CFL as well as a 44.1-yard gross punting average. It remains unclear if he will also perform the team’s punting dutires.
Toronto also released American kicker/punter Boris Bede, who was a pending free agent and an East Division all-star this past season. CFL free agency is set to get underway on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at noon EST.
