The Toronto Argonauts have extended the contracts of a quartet of offensive coaches, including receivers coach and pass game coordinator Pete Costanza.

Costanza is entering his third season with the Argonauts, having produced career years from DaVaris Daniels, Kurleigh Gittens Jr., Damonte Coxie, Dejon Brissett, David Ungerer III, Cam Phillips, and Tommy Nield in his tenure. The 53-year-old was a long-time receivers coach with the Calgary Stampeder (2008-2019) prior to a brief stint as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ running backs coach in 2021, winning five Grey Cups with three CFL franchises.

The New Jersey native had been rumoured to be a top head coaching candidate but will remain with the Argonauts.

Also sticking around for next season are quarterbacks coach Mike Miller, offensive line coach Kris Sweet, and running backs coach and run game coordinator Edwin Harrison.

In two seasons in Toronto, Miller has coached 2022 passing yardage leader McLeod Bethel-Thompson and 2023 Most Outstanding Player Chad Kelly. The veteran quarterback guru has had stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, and Arizona Cardinals, while also serving as offensive coordinator for the Montreal Alouettes in 2013. He was absent from the team during the final eight weeks of the 2023 season due to personal issues.

Sweet spent time coaching offensive linemen with Montreal, Edmonton, Saskatchewan, and Calgary before joining Toronto in 2022. He helped the team set a new franchise record for the fewest sacks allowed in a season in 2023, while coaching Dejon Allen to a Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman award.

Harrison played five seasons along the offensive line for the Calgary Stampeders (2010-15) before joining the Argos as a coach in 2022. He helped running back A.J. Ouellette cross the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career this season.

The Argos went 16-2 in 2023, tying the CFL record for the winningest regular season in history before being upset by the Montreal Alouettes in the East Final.
