The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed veteran receiver Markeith Ambles to their practice roster.
The 31-year-old was released by the Calgary Stampeders late last month after he dressed for four games and caught 15 passes for 193 yards.
Ambles’ stint in Cowtown came after he was released by the Toronto Argonauts at the start of August after completing a stint on the six-game injured list. He set all-new career highs with Toronto in 2022 posting 72 receptions for 737 yards and five touchdowns.
The Houston product spent the first three seasons of his CFL career with the Stampeders, recording 117 catches for 1,399 yards and seven touchdowns.
Winnipeg also added receiver Ronnie Blackmon to the practice roster. He was on the club’s practice roster earlier this year.
The five-foot-eleven, 185-pound target started his collegiate career at the University of Colorado where he recorded 883 return yards over 24 games.
The native of Atlanta, Ga. was converted from defensive back to receiver after transferring to Toledo and made 12 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns over six games with the Rockets. He also returned 13 punts for 59 yards.
Blackmon finished his career with two seasons at West Georgia where he caught 72 passes for 860 yards and eight touchdowns, returned 24 kickoffs for 510 yards, and returned 33 punts for 295 yards and one touchdown.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are currently on a bye week in preparation for the West Final on Saturday, Nov. 11 when they will host the Calgary Stampeders or B.C. Lions.
The club is banged up at receiver as they lost Dalton Schoen to an ankle injury during their late-season win over B.C., while Rasheed Bailey appeared to pull up lame in the club’s regular season finale against the Stampeders.
