Internationally-renowned musician Carrie Underwood will perform at the Built in the Hammer Grey Cup Music Festival ahead of this year’s CFL championship game.

Underwood’s performance will occur at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton on Friday, Nov. 17 as part of a series of concerts leading up to the main event on Sunday.

There will be other musical acts featured throughout the week in free and ticketed performances, including a concert at OLG Stage in Niagara Falls on Thursday, Nov. 16 and another musical performance at the FirstOntario Centre on Saturday, Nov. 18. The identity of the artists playing these additional concerts have not yet been announced.

“Hamilton and the surrounding region represent more than our industrial roots. There is also a love of artistic pursuits here, including a deep devotion to music of all types. Combining a music festival with a football festival is our way of signalling that we want to celebrate all that Hamilton is today,” said Hamilton Sports Group president & COO of business operations Matt Afinec in a statement.

Underwood has sold more than 85 million records worldwide and won over 100 major awards, including eight Grammys. She is the only woman ever to win three ACM Entertainer of the Year Awards and is the most awarded female country artist for singles in Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) history.

This year’s Grey Cup festival will take place from Nov. 13-19. Tickets for Underwood’s concert will first go on sale to those who have already purchased tickets to the Grey Cup. The sale to the general public will go live on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

Hamilton is hosting the Grey Cup again in 2023 after they were unable to put on a full festival due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions in 2021. This year marks the twelfth time the Grey Cup will be played in Steeltown.
