The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are set to sign quarterback David Watford, per sources.
He is en route to Tim Hortons Field. Watford was at home in Hampton, Virginia.
The Ticats are bringing in another quarterback following the season-ending ACL knee injury to Jeremiah Masoli.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders released Watford following 2019 training camp in June.
Watford signed with the Riders in October of 2017. He dressed for all 18 regular season games in 2018, playing in four completing 15-of-32 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown against two interceptions adding 18 carries for 93 yards.
The Hampton University product went unselected in the 2016 NFL draft, but signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles as a receiver. Watford spent the 2016 season on the Eagles practice roster. However, Philly waived the six-foot-two, 212-pounder during training camp in 2017.
Hamilton is going to give Dane Evans every opportunity to be the starter. Watford is an athletic quarterback who can handle the short yardage duties and brings CFL experience.
