Eskimos DL Jake Ceresna first CFL player to sign NFL contract

Defensive lineman Jake Ceresna has signed with the New York Giants.

Ceresna played two seasons in the CFL, one with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2017 and Edmonton Eskimos throughout 2018. The 24-year-old made 50 tackles, 10 sacks and forced one fumble in 32 career games north of the border.

Ceresna went unselected in the 2016 NFL draft. The Kansas City Chiefs invited the six-foot-five, 295-pounder to rookie mini-camp, but afterwards, he was not offered a contract. The New York Jets brought Ceresna to training camp in 2016, although a high ankle sprain landed him on injured reserve with the team releasing hm three weeks in to the regular season.
