Former Argos OL Greg Van Roten signs with Carolina

Offensive lineman Greg Van Roten has signed with the Carolina Panthers, according to TSN’s Farhan Lalji.

The 27-year-old played with the Argos in 2015 and 2016. He was a versatile player who played tackle, guard and centre along the offensive line.

Jacksonville signed Van Roten in February, but let him go in May, which is why he was a free agent. He has NFL playing experience, 10 games with Green Bay over the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The Packers released him in February 2014, then signed with Seattle three days later. But van Roten was among the final Seahawks training camp cuts that year, which led to him signing with the Argonauts in advance of the 2015 season.
