Make room in the rafters, the Montreal Alouettes are set to raise the eighth Grey Cup banner in franchise history on Thursday, June 20.

The celebration is scheduled to take place ahead of the team’s Week 3 matchup with the Ottawa Redblacks at Percival Molson Stadium, which is slated to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Alouettes will begin the 2024 season with two consecutive road games against the West Division, playing in Winnipeg on Thursday, June 6 and Edmonton on Friday, June 14.

The Alouettes defeated the heavily favoured Winnipeg Blue Bombers by a score of 28-24 on Sunday, November 19 to capture their first championship since 2010. Montreal overcame a ten-point halftime deficit to secure the win, which came on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Cody Fajardo to Tyson Philpot with 13 seconds remaining in the game. Fajardo was named the game’s Most Valuable Player, while Philpot was awarded Most Valuable Canadian.

8.9 million Canadians watched at least some part of the 110th Grey Cup, according to TSN, with the audience peaking at 5.2 million during the final minute. An audience of 752,600 watched on RDS, TSN’s French-language affiliate, giving the Grey Cup a 14.5 percent increase in viewership compared to the English-language rating from last year’s game.

Thousands came out to witness the team’s championship parade down Boul de Maisonneuve last month, with the Alouettes reporting more than 700 new season tickets sold in the immediate aftermath of the win.

Montreal is currently tied for third in early Grey Cup odds, with the line set at +600 for them to repeat as champions.
