Calgary Stampeders linebacker Kyle Wilson done for season with bicep injury

The Calgary Stampeders have lost linebacker Kyle Wilson for the remainder of the 2026 season due to a bicep injury.

The 30-year-old made the announcement on social media on Friday after he was officially placed on the six-game injured list.

“Posting this with a heavy heart and to say that my season has come to an early end. Getting injured doing something I love hurts in more ways than one. It will be hard watching from the sidelines when all I want to do is compete, give my all, and be out there with my teammates. There are moments when the frustration and disappointment hit hard, but I refuse to let this define me.

I know this is only a setback, not my ending. I’m going to take the pain, the lessons, and the struggles and use them as fuel. Recovery will test me and won’t always be easy but I’ll keep pushing, keep believing, and keep fighting.

One day I’ll look back at this moment and realize it was just a chapter in my life and it made me stronger than I ever knew I could be.
I’ll come back stronger, wiser, and more determined and a way better player than before. Until then, thanks to all my teammates and coaches for allowing me to be a part of something special. Wishing nothing but the best as I watch from afar.

Wilson had appeared in 12 games for Calgary this season, registering 40 total tackles, four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, four batted passes, an interception, and a defensive touchdown.

In 77 career CFL games with the Stampeders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats, he has amassed 251 defensive tackles, 17 special teams tackles, two sacks, six forced fumbles, two interceptions, and a defensive touchdown.

The Calgary Stampeders (5-7) will visit the Edmonton Elks (9-3) at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday, September 12, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The two teams met in the Labour Day Classic last week, where the Elks won 38-28 at McMahon Stadium after rallying in the fourth quarter.

The weather forecast in Edmonton calls for a high of 11 degrees with a 30 percent chance of rain. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 770 CHQR in Calgary or 880 CHED in Edmonton.
