The Canadian Football League has fined six players for hits delivered in Week 12, including Winnipeg Blue Bombers safety Brandon Alexander.
The 30-year-old veteran, who has recorded 45 tackles this year, was fined for a high hit on Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver Kiondre Smith. His teammate, linebacker Tanner Cadwallader, was punished for a blindside block on long snapper Gordon Whyte in that same game, while Hamilton fullback James Tuck was reprimanded for a late and unnecessary hit on Winnipeg returner Lucky Whitehead.
Also fined this week was Saskatchewan defensive back DaMarcus Fields for a high hit on Toronto receiver Makai Polk, B.C. defensive end Juliano Falaniko for clipping Ottawa fullback Anthony Gosselin, and Montreal defensive end Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund for a high hit on Edmonton quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson.
As per CFL policy, the amounts of the fines were not disclosed. The maximum allowable fin under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement is half a game cheque.
