The Montreal Alouettes have signed veteran CFL quarterback Dominique Davis following a season-ending knee injury to backup Caleb Evans.

Davis has played eight seasons in the CFL, most recently as a member of the B.C. Lions. He has completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 3,967 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions and carried the ball 199 times for 499 yards and 30 scores. He was with the Alouettes in 2022 following three-year stints in Winnipeg and Ottawa.

The 35-year-old native of Lakeland, Fla. spent three seasons in the NFL before coming north as a member of the Blue Bombers in 2015.

“I have always admired the attitude of this veteran who leads by example in the locker room and on the field,” said general manager Danny Maciocia in a statement. “His energy is contagious, he knows our team and the CFL well.”

Evans was injured during this past week’s win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He completed 57.8 percent of his passes this season for 307 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions and ran the ball 24 times for 55 yards and four scores. He started the club’s recent win over Saskatchewan, though he was replaced by Davis Alexander at halftime.

The Montreal Alouettes (7-1) will host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-6) on Saturday, Aug. 10 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
