The Montreal Alouettes have signed offensive lineman Matthew Hajewich and running back Tanner Nelmes, both of whom went unselected in the 2024 CFL Draft.

Hajewich made 15 starts over two seasons at the University of Regina, primarily playing left tackle. The six-foot-three, 304-pound blocker was a member of the CJFL’s Regina Thunder from 2017 to 2021. The Regina native participated in this year’s CFL Invitational Combine in Waterloo, Ont.

Nelmes ran the ball 194 times for 973 yards and six touchdowns and caught 22 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns over 29 career games at Wilfrid Laurier University. The native of Guelph, Ont. was named to the OUA All-Rookie team in 2019 and performed at the CFL Invitational Combine in March.

The Alouettes also signed American defensive back Christian Morgan, who had a stint with the Green Bay Packers after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft. The six-foot, 200-pound defender played 55 collegiate games at Baylor University, recording 109 tackles, seven interceptions, and 19 pass knockdowns.

Montreal also released receiver Kameron Brown and linebacker Chris Moore.

The Alouettes will open the 2024 season on June 6 when they visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Princess Auto Stadium for a Grey Cup rematch.
