The Montreal Alouettes have signed American defensive back Macon Clark.
The six-foot, 185-pound defender signed with the Chicago Bears after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft but was waived at the end of training camp. He had a brief stint on the practice roster before being released outright in October.
The 24-year-old native of Saint Rose, La. recorded 202 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, nine interceptions, eight pass knockdowns, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries over 51 collegiate games at Tulane University. He was named first-team All-AAC in his senior season with the Green Waves.
The Alouettes also released American linebacker C.J. Avery, who signed with the team in January 2024.
The six-foot, 230-pound native of Grenada, Miss. made 249 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, three interceptions, and 19 pass knockdowns over 59 games at the University of Louisville. He signed with the Chicago Bears in 2022 but was waived with an injury designation.
The Alouettes will open the 2024 season on June 6 when they visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Princess Auto Stadium for a Grey Cup rematch.
