The Montreal Alouettes have signed Canadian running back Sean Thomas-Erlington.

The five-foot-nine, 217-pound ball-carrier has spent the past six seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, recording 1,170 rushing yards, 631 receiving yards, and nine total touchdowns.

“I am extremely pleased to bring Sean Thomas back to Montreal. He is from here and I am convinced that he will give us everything he has,” said general manager Danny Maciocia in a statement. “He is a talented athlete who has excellent acceleration when running with the ball. With his services, we are adding depth to our roster.”

The 31-year-old was an eighth-round pick in the 2017 CFL Draft out of the Université de Montréal. He won the Vanier Cup as a member of the Carabins in 2014 when Maciocia was the team’s head coach.

The Alouettes will open the 2024 season on June 6 when they visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Princess Auto Stadium for a rematch of last year’s Grey Cup.
