The Montreal Alouettes have signed four Americans to their training camp roster, including running back Charles McClelland, defensive linemen Jacorey Johns and Ifeanyi Maijeh, and receiver Malachi Carter.

McClelland played 42 games over five seasons at the University of Cincinnati, developing into a feature back for his senior season in 2022. The five-foot-11, 200-pound ball carrier rushed 268 times in his college career, collecting 1,639 yards and 12 touchdowns while posting the third-highest yards per carry (6.1) in school history. He also caught 30 passes for 273 yards and a major, before a brief stint with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent.

Johns spent five seasons at Wake Forest University, suiting up in 43 career games. The six-foot-four, 255-pound pass rusher notched 131 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in his collegiate career, before earning a rookie mini-camp tryout with the Detroit Lions. The cousin of Buffalo Bills running back Latavius Murray, he spent part of the 2023 season with the USFL’s New Orleans Breakers and recorded three tackles in two games.

Maijeh began his collegiate career with Temple University, spending three seasons with the Owls before transferring to Rutgers University for his final two campaigns. A 2019 first-team All-AAC selection at defensive tackle, he registered 134 total tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, four forced fumbles, two batted passes and a blocked kick. The six-foot-two, 290-pound native of Far Rockaway, N.Y. went unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft but spent training camp with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent.

Carter holds the Georgia Tech school record for most games played, having suited up in 58 games during his five-year tenure with the Yellow Jackets. The six-foot-three, 192-pound target caught 99 passes for 1,417 yards and 10 touchdowns during his college career and later signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent.

The Alouettes will open their 2024 campaign on Thursday, June 6 when they travel to Winnipeg for a Grey Cup rematch with the Bombers.
