The Montreal Alouettes have signed Canadian fullback Régis Cibasu to a one-year contract extension. He was set to become a free agent next month.
“Régis has been with us for several years and has proven to be versatile enough to help the team through time,” said Montreal Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia. “In 2023, he always answered the call and did his job the right way. He deserves this vote of confidence.”
The six-foot-three, 232-pounder has taken snaps at receiver, tight end, and fullback since joining the Alouettes as a free agent in 2021. He made seven catches for 101 yards and one touchdown and five special teams tackles over 18 regular season games in 2023.
The 29-year-old was a third-round pick in the 2018 CFL Draft by the Toronto Argonauts. He played collegiately at the Université de Montréal, winning a Vanier Cup in 2014.
CFL free agency is set to get underway on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at noon EST.
