Winnipeg Blue Bombers release three from practice roster

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released three American players from their practice roster, including receiver Christian Fredericksen, offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua, and defensive back Kaylin Moore. The team made the announcement on Wednesday morning.

Fredericksen played five collegiate seasons at Idaho State University, where he made 148 receptions for 2,071 yards and 16 touchdowns to earn a first-team All-Big Sky selection in 2024. The native of Rigby, Id. signed with the Blue Bombers in April and made the practice roster after training camp, though he didn’t see any regular-season action prior to his release.

Mazzccua signed with Winnipeg in January. The six-foot-five, 325-pound blocker finished his collegiate career at the University of Nebraska in 2024, where he played nine games and made three starts. He previously played at the University of Florida and Baylor University. The native of Philadelphia, Pa. made one start at left guard this season, filling in for Gabe Wallace during the team’s 14-13 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Week 5.

Moore signed onto Winnipeg’s practice roster last month. The five-foot-eleven, 190-pound defender finished his collegiate career at UCLA in 2024, where he was named an All-Big Ten honourable mention. He previously played at the University of California and University of Colorado.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (4-2) will host the Calgary Stampeders (2-4) at Princess Auto Stadium on Friday, July 24 with kickoff scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EDT. The Stampeders lost to the Montreal Alouettes in a failed comeback bid this past week, while the Blue Bombers defeated the Ottawa Redblacks in overtime.

The weather forecast in Winnipeg calls for a high of 29 degrees and a 60 percent chance of showers. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS2 in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 770 CHQR in Calgary or 680 CJOB in Winnipeg.
